Coach Kyle Shanahan watched Christian McCaffrey take part in the San Francisco 49ers practice and is confident he will play for the first time this season on Sunday.
McCaffrey had been sidelined and placed on injured reserve in September due to Achilles tendinitis. Shanahan mentioned that McCaffrey's performance during practice this week supports his return for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The return of McCaffrey has given a lift to the 4-4 Niners, with quarterback Brock Purdy highlighting the positive effect on the team's morale and overall performance.
Although it is still unclear how much McCaffrey will play, Shanahan suggested his participation will be influenced by his fitness and general health. The team also has Jordan Mason, Isaac Guerendo, and Patrick Taylor Jr. as additional options in the backfield.
Receivers Juan Jennings and Deebo Samuel are also anticipated to play in the upcoming game against the Bucs, having recovered from their injuries.
