Carolina Panthers News & Updates

Carolina Panthers Coach Dave Canales commended Bryce Young's leadership qualities even though he decided to bench him in favor of Andy Dalton.

Dalton's performance in the game against the Las Vegas Raiders reinforced Canales's belief that Dalton should remain the starting quarterback for the upcoming match against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Dalton's achievement of 319 passing yards and three touchdowns invigorated the offense, outperforming the cumulative 176 yards and 6.5 points from the previous two games.

Canales stressed Dalton's efficiency in executing offensive plays, which led to the Panthers recording their first 300-yard passing, 100-yard rushing, and 100-yard receiving game since 2022.

Although Canales did not delve into the specific reasons behind Dalton's performance being superior, he did mention the increased confidence and trust within the offense.

Young's quarterback rating of 8.9 was notably lower than Dalton's 86.9, yet Canales still lauded his leadership and strong connections with the team.

Teammates Austin Corbett and Tommy Tremble highlighted Young's positive attitude and continued support of the team despite being benched.

In the end, Dalton's impressive production cemented his role as the starting quarterback, bringing a sense of excitement and stability to the offense.
