Detroit Lions News & Updates

Tests have confirmed that Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta is dealing with a low ankle sprain.

After their victory against the Cardinals, it was initially believed that LaPorta had not sustained a high ankle sprain. This was later confirmed by head coach Dan Campbell, affirming the ankle sprain diagnosis.

LaPorta suffered the injury while blocking during a hook-and-ladder touchdown play in the second quarter. He was taken off the field on a cart but made a brief return at the start of the second half, still showing signs of discomfort.

Following an impressive rookie season, LaPorta has had a slower beginning in his second year. He has managed only eight receptions for 94 yards over three games, hindered by a hamstring injury during training camp.
