Baker Mayfield passed for 325 yards and achieved four touchdown throws, guiding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 51-27 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Despite three turnovers, including a pair of interceptions, Mayfield excelled. Chris Godwin, a wide receiver, caught two touchdown passes for Tampa Bay, and Sean Tucker ran for 136 yards and secured two touchdowns on the ground.
For the Saints, rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler made his NFL debut, passing for 243 yards and delivering a touchdown pass. Alvin Kamara and Rashid Shaheed contributed additional touchdowns for New Orleans.
Hurricane Milton forced the Buccaneers to play in New Orleans, where they totaled 277 rushing yards and intercepted Rattler three times, including one pivotal diving interception leading to a touchdown for Tampa Bay.
The Saints, currently on a four-game losing streak, also battled several injuries. Wide receiver Chris Olave left the game due to a concussion, while safety Tyrann Mathieu sustained a forearm injury.
Tampa Bay is set to play host to the Baltimore Ravens on the night of Monday, October 21st, whereas the Saints will welcome the Denver Broncos on Thursday, featuring former Saints coach Sean Payton at the helm.
Regarding injuries, the Buccaneers faced a setback with cornerback Jamel Dean's hamstring issue. The Saints contended with multiple injuries including Chris Olave's concussion, Tyrann Mathieu's forearm problem, Taysom Hill's rib injury, Erik McCoy's groin strain, Cesar Ruiz's knee condition, and Lucas Patrick's chest injury.
