Baltimore Ravens News & Updates

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has gained an experienced receiver as the team traded with the Carolina Panthers to acquire wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

Johnson, having previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will now join Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman as part of Baltimore's receiving lineup. The Ravens have utilized formations with three or more wide receivers only 163 times this season, which ranks as the second-lowest in the NFL. Known for his skill in sideline catches, Johnson has amassed 242 receptions outside the numbers since 2019, which will aid in enhancing Jackson's passing options.

Ravens' general manager Eric DeCosta remains proactive in making mid-season improvements, as illustrated by this being his fourth in-season trade over the past six years. The Panthers had acquired Johnson from the Steelers in March 2023, although he had limited output while playing with quarterback Bryce Young.

Following Johnson's trade, the Panthers' group of receivers features Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette, Jonathan Mingo, David Moore, and Jalen Coker.
