Bengals Trade for Khalil Herbert from Bears to Strengthen Backfield Before Trade Deadline

Cincinnati Bengals News & Updates

In an unusual move before the trade deadline, the Cincinnati Bengals have added Khalil Herbert, a running back from the Chicago Bears, in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2025.

Originally picked in the sixth round in 2021, Herbert saw limited action in Chicago this season, with only eight carries for 16 yards over six games. The Bengals sought an additional running back after Zack Moss was sidelined with a neck injury prior to their Week 9 match.

Herbert will strengthen the roster behind Chase Brown, who achieved a personal best of 27 carries for 120 yards in their last game.

The Bengals seldom execute trades during the season. Their most recent one occurred in 2020, when Carlos Dunlap was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in return for B.J. Finney, an offensive lineman.
