Cleveland Browns News & Updates

Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski expressed disapproval of offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr.'s remarks regarding his decision to sit out a game due to a knee injury. Stefanski described the comment as a poor choice of words.

Wills mentioned that he opted not to play against the Baltimore Ravens after hyperextending his knee, an injury for which he underwent surgery in December 2023. Following the Browns' surprise victory over the Ravens with Dawand Jones playing as left tackle, Wills alleged that Stefanski had relegated him to a swing tackle role.

Stefanski explained that Wills' statement had been misunderstood, and clarified that his absence in the Ravens game was not the reason for his demotion. He assured that Wills would not face any consequences for his recent remark and confirmed his intention to keep Jones as the starting tackle.

A 2020 first-round pick from Alabama, Wills had started every game he played until his recent demotion. He is currently in the final year of his rookie contract, and if he does not renew, the Browns would incur a salary cap hit of $11.8 million.
