Chris Olave, playing as a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, experienced a concussion in the initial quarter of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This injury prevented him from continuing for the rest of the game.
The injury occurred after Olave made a catch but then lost control of the ball, which allowed Antoine Winfield Jr. from the Buccaneers to recover it and score a touchdown. Olave needed assistance to leave the field, underwent evaluation, and subsequently received a ruling of incapacity to return.
In a simultaneous incident, Jamel Dean, a starting cornerback for the Buccaneers, also had to leave the game because of a hamstring issue. This took place after he tackled Bub Means. His position was taken over by Tyrek Funderburk, who joined the team as an undrafted rookie.
Olave's concussion history includes missing games in prior seasons. The Saints are set to play against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night during Week 7 of the NFL season.
