Detroit Lions News & Updates

Almost ten years after stepping away from professional football, Calvin Johnson will be celebrated as a Pride of the Lions during the Monday night game against Seattle.

Johnson's rapport with the Lions has seen significant improvement post-retirement, largely thanks to the efforts of Lions COO Mike Disner.

Although he chose to retire early, Johnson has no second thoughts, as he recognized his physical limits at the time.

Johnson holds franchise records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Barry Sanders has always believed Johnson’s inclusion in the Pride of the Lions display is crucial.

Present-day Lions players, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, admire Johnson's achievements and value his guidance.

During Monday Night Football, Johnson will be officially recognized at halftime, and the Lions will don their all-black uniforms, reminiscent of 2007 when Johnson was still on the team.
