Chicago Bears News & Updates

George McCaskey, the Chicago Bears' Chairman, acknowledged that the team pursued Tom Brady in 2020 when he became a free agent.

During Fox's Week 4 broadcast, Brady mentioned that the Bears quietly tried to attract him after his departure from New England. At that time, Mitchell Trubisky was the Bears' starting quarterback, following a less-than-stellar 2019 season.

McCaskey admitted the team's interest but clarified that he wasn't directly involved in the efforts to bring Brady on board. He highlighted that the Bears always explore various options in such scenarios.

In 2020, the Bears ended up obtaining Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Presently, McCaskey is fostering a connection with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the first overall draft pick.

He commended Williams for his attitude and applauded the coaching staff for creating an environment conducive to his growth. McCaskey stressed the significance of shielding the young quarterback from unnecessary distractions.

The Bears are set to play against the Jaguars in Week 6 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
