The Warriors claimed victory over the Celtics in an exhilarating opening game of the NBA Finals. The match remained neck-and-neck throughout, with neither squad gaining an advantage of more than seven points. In the final moments, the Celtics had an opportunity to equalize, but Jaylen Brown's three-point shot narrowly missed.
Stephen Curry was the standout for the Warriors, securing 34 points, while Jayson Tatum topped the scoring for the Celtics with 26 points. Klay Thompson contributed 21 points for the Warriors, and Jaylen Brown added 20 for the Celtics.
Initially, the Warriors took the lead, but the Celtics rallied to move ahead in the second quarter. The teams exchanged points for much of the third quarter before the Warriors gained the upper hand in the fourth quarter. Although the Celtics narrowed the deficit to just two points with two minutes left, the Warriors made crucial shots in the final moments to clinch the win.
The teams will meet again for Game 2 on Sunday night. The Warriors aim to extend their lead to 2-0, while the Celtics will strive to balance the series.
