Kansas City Chiefs News & Updates

Andy Reid, the coach of the Chiefs, saw the Buccaneers move down the field in the final minute of regulation, concluding with Baker Mayfield throwing a touchdown pass that brought Tampa Bay within a two-point conversion from tying the game.

Todd Bowles, the Buccaneers' coach, acknowledged that he briefly thought about attempting a two-point conversion before choosing to kick the extra point, which sent the game into overtime. Reid expressed relief over Bowles' decision.

Kansas City won the coin toss, and Patrick Mahomes led an outstanding drive during overtime, completing all five of his passes. Kareem Hunt capped off the drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown, securing a 30-24 victory for the Chiefs.

Reid credited everyone for the team's success. DeAndre Hopkins made significant contributions with eight catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Kelce caught 14 passes for 100 yards. Despite the absence of some injured players, the defense limited Mayfield to 200 passing yards and two touchdowns and restricted the Buccaneers' running game to 95 yards.

The victory extended the Chiefs' winning streak to 14 games, marking the longest such streak since Carolina's 14-0 start in 2014. Additionally, they secured their sixth Super Bowl title and became the eighth team to begin the next season with an 8-0 record.

The Buccaneers missed the chance to tie when Mayfield found Ryan Miller in the end zone. Instead of going for two points, Bowles opted for the extra point, resulting in Tampa Bay's fourth loss in five games.

In terms of injuries, the Buccaneers reported linebacker Yaya Diaby with a chest injury and cornerback Josh Hayes with a calf issue. The Chiefs noted that wide receiver Mecole Hardman suffered a shoulder injury, while defensive end George Karlaftis had a hip problem.
