The Denver Broncos emerged victorious over the Carolina Panthers with a score of 24-10 in their season opener. Russell Wilson spearheaded the Broncos' offense by passing for 184 yards and securing a touchdown. Melvin Gordon III contributed with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Courtland Sutton caught five passes totaling 94 yards.
The Panthers faced difficulties on offense, with Baker Mayfield connecting on just 11 out of 19 pass attempts for 171 yards, which included an interception. Christian McCaffrey managed to accumulate 108 yards from scrimmage, but the Panthers were unable to score a touchdown until the fourth quarter.
Denver's defense limited the Panthers to a total of 238 yards and created two turnovers. Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory each managed to secure a sack, and Justin Simmons added to this by intercepting the ball.
The Broncos initially took the lead with a field goal and further increased their margin with a rushing touchdown from Gordon. Wilson then connected with Jerry Jeudy for a third-quarter touchdown, and a field goal by Brandon McManus in the fourth quarter confirmed the victory.
This win places the Broncos at 1-0 for the season, while the Panthers start off at 0-1.
