The Washington Nationals emerged victorious over the Atlanta Braves with a 3-1 win in a closely contested match on Wednesday night.
Early in the game, the Nationals gained an advantage in the first inning through a two-run home run by Juan Soto. They further extended their lead in the fourth inning as Nelson Cruz hit a solo home run.
The Braves managed to score their lone run in the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by Austin Riley.
Josiah Gray, the Nationals pitcher, delivered a strong performance by pitching 5.2 innings, conceding just one run on four hits. Relief pitchers Hunter Strickland and Tanner Rainey took over to successfully finish the game.
This victory improved the Nationals' season record to 4-2, while the Braves' record dropped to 2-4.
