Kansas City Chiefs News & Updates

The NFL season opener featured a game between the Chiefs and Ravens that was decided by a video review of a touchdown catch by Isaiah Likely.

Referee Shawn Hochuli, with Taylor Swift watching from the crowd, ruled that Likely's toe was on the endline, preserving the Chiefs' 27-20 victory.

Patrick Mahomes recorded 291 passing yards and a touchdown, while Xavier Worthy contributed both a rushing and receiving touchdown for the Chiefs.

Lamar Jackson had an impressive performance, amassing 273 passing yards and 122 rushing yards, but his final pass to Likely sparked controversy.

After trailing 27-17, the Ravens made a comeback. Jackson's throw to Rashod Bateman and a scramble led to the final play, which was ultimately ruled out of bounds.

The game started with a 20-minute delay due to a storm, and the first half featured mistakes from both teams.

In the second half, the Chiefs extended their lead to 27-17, and a field goal by Justin Tucker brought the Ravens within a single score.

Despite Jackson's remarkable efforts, the Ravens couldn't close the gap and left the field disappointed.

Star-studded crowd

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce's girlfriend, was in attendance along with Olympic champion Quincy Hall and soccer player Christian Pulisic.

Injuries

Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy exited the game in the second half due to an eye injury.
