Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice sustained a right knee injury during the first quarter of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The injury occurred when he collided with quarterback Patrick Mahomes after recovering a fumble. Due to this injury, Rice will not be able to return to the game.
The knee injury happened as Mahomes tried to tackle Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton, who had intercepted one of Mahomes' passes. During the collision, both of Rice's knees were affected, with the right knee appearing to hyperextend.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed concern about the severity of Rice's injury during halftime.
Before exiting the match on a cart, Rice was examined by medical staff on the sidelines. Leading up to Week 4, he was the league leader in catches and ranked second in receiving yards.
Rice was also involved in a multi-car crash last March and is currently awaiting trial for related charges.
