Quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans guided his team to a close win over the Buffalo Bills with a performance that included 331 passing yards and a touchdown pass, resulting in a 23-20 victory.
The Texans started strong, establishing a 20-3 lead, but the Bills responded with a streak of 17 unanswered points. In the final moments, the Texans faced a challenging fourth-and-15 situation when Stroud received an intentional grounding penalty, suggesting their chances for a field goal were slim.
Nonetheless, after a Bills punt, Houston had another opportunity. Running back Dare Ogunbowale's 5-yard run positioned kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn to make a 59-yard field goal just as the clock ran out, sealing the win.
Despite losing key players like running back Joe Mixon and receiver Nico Collins during the match, the Texans found momentum through Stefon Diggs' performance, marked by six receptions for 82 yards against his old team.
On the other side, Bills quarterback Josh Allen faced difficulties, managing only 131 passing yards, contributing to their second loss in a row.
Regarding injuries, Texans running back British Brooks sustained a knee issue, while safety Jimmie Ward was out with a groin injury. Looking ahead, the Bills are set to play against the New York Jets on Monday, while the Texans travel to New England for a game next Sunday.
