Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is confident that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be back on the field this season, although he hasn't pinpointed a specific date for his return.
Tagovailoa has been sidelined on injured reserve for the last four weeks due to a concussion. He will be eligible to come back for the Dolphins' game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. While McDaniel has not guaranteed Tagovailoa's return next week, he remains hopeful that the quarterback will be able to play again this season.
Despite Tagovailoa’s history with concussions, McDaniel did not dwell on the possibility of him never playing again. His primary concern has been Tagovailoa's health and overall well-being.
During Tagovailoa's absence, the Dolphins have had Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley step in as quarterbacks. Huntley will keep starting until Tagovailoa is ready to return.
McDaniel also reported on the status of other injured players. Bradley Chubb is unlikely to practice or play this week. Meanwhile, De'Von Achane and Jevon Holland are both uncertain for Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
