Indianapolis Colts News & Updates

Colts coach Shane Steichen expects quarterback Anthony Richardson to resume his role as the starter in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

In a surprising move, Steichen benched Richardson for Sunday's game, despite improvement from his oblique injury. Steichen stressed the importance of ensuring Richardson's full recovery before bringing him back to play.

Veteran backup Joe Flacco has performed satisfactorily, securing a win for the Colts against the Titans. Nonetheless, Steichen reaffirmed that Richardson remains the starting quarterback when fit.

The careful approach with Richardson contrasts with that of receiver Michael Pittman, who is playing through an injury, and is attributed to the physical demands of the quarterback position. Steichen is focused on maintaining Richardson's health for the future.

Richardson missed 13 games during his rookie season and has started four out of six games this season due to injury. He acknowledged his continued recovery process and agreed with the decision to sit out another week.
