Indianapolis Colts News & Updates

Coach Shane Steichen of the Colts decided to replace quarterback Anthony Richardson with the experienced Joe Flacco. Steichen explained that Flacco offers the team a better opportunity for success at the moment.

While Steichen recognized the difficulty of this choice, he emphasized his commitment to winning games in the present. He considered the future consequences of the decision but clarified that achieving current success for the team is his foremost priority.

Richardson shared his disappointment with the decision, yet he mentioned that he continues to feel the support of his teammates. He saw this situation as a chance for personal growth and improvement.

Although Steichen pointed out that Richardson stepping out during a play was not a factor in the benching, he affirmed that Richardson can still develop while learning from Flacco.

This season, Richardson's completion percentage of 44.4% is regarded as historically low for any player's initial six NFL games. On the other hand, Flacco has performed effectively in relief, helping the Colts secure a 2-1 record with seven touchdowns and only one interception.
