In an exciting match that was decided in the last inning, the Boston Red Sox were narrowly defeated by the New York Yankees with a score of 6-5.

The Yankees took an early advantage by scoring two runs in the opening inning thanks to a home run from Aaron Judge. The Red Sox managed to level the playing field in the third inning with a two-run homer from Xander Bogaerts.

The score remained even until the seventh inning when the Yankees surged ahead with three additional runs. Although the Red Sox fought back with two more runs in the eighth, the Yankees maintained their lead, clinching the game with a strikeout for the final out.

Gerrit Cole, starting for the Yankees, delivered a strong performance over six innings, giving up just two runs. Likewise, Red Sox starter Chris Sale impressed by striking out nine hitters across five innings.

As a result of this victory, the Yankees’ record improved to 6-3, whereas the Red Sox’s record dropped to 3-6.
