In Frisco, Texas, Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is not set to undergo surgery for his Lisfranc injury since his bones are not displaced. Nevertheless, he is expected to be out for four to eight weeks while recovering.
Lawrence sustained the injury during the third quarter of their game against the New York Giants and did not return to play. While not as severe as the injury Jourdan Lewis suffered two years ago, Lawrence will likely be placed on injured reserve for a minimum of four games.
There is a chance Lawrence could be back in November. Coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence that both Lawrence and Micah Parsons will return this season. However, Lawrence's injury is more significant. Parsons, who sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter, is expected to need between two and four weeks to recover.
In 2021, Lawrence missed 10 games due to a broken foot but made a comeback for the final regular-season games and the playoffs. The Cowboys have elevated Carl Lawson from the practice squad, considering him for their 53-man roster. Marshawn Kneeland and Chauncey Golston covered for Lawrence and Parsons against the Giants, and the team intends to add another defensive end to the active roster.
