The Dallas Cowboys plan to continue with Cooper Rush as their quarterback in the upcoming game against the Houston Texans on Monday night, which will take place at their home stadium.
Despite experiencing a fumble and a difficult start in their game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Coach Mike McCarthy has praised Rush for his performance and remains confident in his abilities.
In the matchup with the Eagles, Rush managed to complete 13 out of 26 passes for a total of 45 yards, lost possession due to two fumbles, and faced one sack. The team struggled to secure a touchdown during their first game without Dak Prescott.
His performance placed his yards per attempt among the four lowest since 1990 for games with at least 20 pass attempts. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer noted that the offense's underperformance was not entirely attributable to Rush.
Trey Lance stepped in for Rush during the fourth quarter, achieving 21 passing yards with 4-of-6 attempts, although he was sacked twice and intercepted once. He also ran for 17 yards. Despite these errors, McCarthy expressed his approval of Lance’s play.
