Dallas Cowboys News & Updates

Following a significant 47-9 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions, marking the most considerable home loss during his time as owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones expressed his support for head coach Mike McCarthy.

When reminded of a mid-season coaching change he made back in 2010, Jones responded curtly, emphasizing he was not thinking about making a similar decision now.

Although McCarthy has achieved three consecutive 12-5 seasons, the lack of playoff success has led to questions about his long-term prospects with the team.

With their record at 3-3 after this recent loss, the Cowboys head into their bye week trailing the Washington Commanders in the NFC East and having lost their first three games at home.

Jones defended McCarthy, recognizing that the struggles the team has faced are not solely due to his leadership.

The defeat represented the largest home loss under Jones' ownership, with the Cowboys encountering a significant halftime deficit for the third consecutive home match.

Despite being without key players, the Cowboys were aware of the defensive challenge awaiting them. McCarthy admitted they were outmatched by a stronger opponent.

An interception thrown by Dak Prescott in the end zone proved to be a detrimental turnover that influenced the game's outcome. The Cowboys' offense struggled to regain momentum, with two consecutive three-and-out drives followed by a four-and-out on the next three possessions.

The Cowboys will have a two-week break before returning to the field, as their bye week precedes their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, a team that has defeated them three times in a row.

Jones acknowledged the difficult circumstances facing the team, acknowledging their challenging position.

Despite the setback, Prescott conveyed his faith in McCarthy's leadership.
