Dallas Cowboys News & Updates

The Dallas Cowboys faced a 27-21 defeat against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, with quarterback Dak Prescott leaving the game in the third quarter due to a hamstring injury. Before his exit, Prescott had successfully completed 18 of 24 passes, totaling 133 yards and securing a touchdown.

The injury to Prescott happened during the Cowboys' last drive in the third quarter. Television footage captured his expression of discomfort after making a pass to Jalen Brooks. Additionally, he showed signs of a swollen hand, though the Cowboys have not reported any further injuries.

Cooper Rush stepped in for Prescott, achieving 115 yards and a touchdown. Rush had already started four games for the Cowboys in 2022 and appeared in two games in 2023 as a backup.

Prescott has previously missed games due to injuries, including 11 games in 2020 owing to an ankle injury and one game in 2021 with a calf strain. Prior to Sunday's match, he had maintained a streak of 36 consecutive starts.

In Prescott's absence, the Cowboys now have Trey Lance, who was acquired from the San Francisco 49ers last year, as the backup quarterback.
