Dallas Cowboys News & Updates

Dalvin Cook, a running back, is set to make his debut for the Dallas Cowboys against the 49ers on Sunday. Prior to the season, he was signed to the practice squad and has been eagerly awaiting this opportunity, especially considering the Cowboys' struggles in their running game.

The Cowboys currently hold the lowest average for rushing in the NFL, with just 77.2 yards per game. Additionally, they have not had a player rush for 100 yards in any of their last 20 games. Cook, who has four seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards from his time with the Vikings, has been getting more practice reps recently.

Bringing Cook up from the practice squad brings up questions regarding the lineup of running backs for the Cowboys on game day. The primary rushers for the team, Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott, have been leading the running game, though the team has only dressed three running backs in four games this season.

Deuce Vaughn has not been active for the last two games, while Hunter Luepke is an important player for both the offense and special teams. Elliott typically is only a healthy scratch when the regular season nears its end and the playoffs come into view.

In other team news, the Cowboys have placed tight end John Stephens Jr. on injured reserve due to a torn ACL and have signed cornerback Amani Oruwariye from the practice squad.
