New York Giants News & Updates

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been working with the first team in practice this week and is anticipated to start on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, even though he was benched during the fourth quarter in last week’s defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though some teammates have mentioned a change might be considered if Tyrod Taylor, the backup quarterback for the past two years, were still around, several Giants players have expressed that they are not advocating for a permanent switch at quarterback. At present, Jones remains the clear starter for the Giants.

This season has presented Jones and the Giants with difficulties, especially on their home field, where they have managed just one offensive touchdown across four games. Following a successful 2022 season, Jones has seen uneven performance, throwing six touchdown passes and four interceptions over seven starts. The Giants' offense is ranked 31st in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game.

Even though Jones is frustrated about being benched, he continues to concentrate on playing well and securing a win. Head coach Brian Daboll has confirmed Jones' starting position for Monday night but has not clarified if there will be a quicker decision to bench him should performance issues arise.

Jones has been the primary quarterback for the Giants since his rookie year, enduring various highs and lows. Despite a strong performance in 2022, leading to a four-year, $160 million contract, the Giants have encountered challenges since then. Over the past offseason, they considered bringing in a new quarterback, a process that was featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks."
