Darren Rizzi Leads Saints to Victory, Valdes-Scantling Excels, Kamara Sets New Franchise Rushing Record

Before heading toward the locker room, interim coach Darren Rizzi of the New Orleans Saints greeted the cheering fans following his successful debut at the Superdome.

In his second appearance for New Orleans, Marquez Valdes-Scantling achieved 109 yards and scored two touchdowns with three catches. The Saints ended their seven-game losing streak with a 20-17 win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Rizzi highlighted the importance of teamwork and unity in securing the victory. Running back Alvin Kamara, who now holds the title as the franchise's all-time leading rusher, praised the positive influence of Rizzi's leadership.

Tyrann Mathieu intercepted a pass from Kirk Cousins late in the game, thwarting a potential scoring drive by Atlanta. Chase Young's sack and strip resulted in a crucial loss for the Falcons, contributing to their defeat.

Atlanta missed multiple scoring chances, with Younghoe Koo having an unusually poor field-goal performance. Bijan Robinson scored two touchdowns for the Falcons and gathered 116 rushing yards.

Derek Carr managed 269 yards and two touchdowns without any turnovers, despite missing key receivers Olave and Shaheed. Valdes-Scantling brought a veteran presence to the Saints' receiving lineup.

Kamara exceeded Mark Ingram as the franchise's all-time leading rusher with a total of 6,544 yards.

Ta'Quon Graham from the Falcons sustained a pectoral injury, whereas Pete Werner from the Saints left during the fourth quarter for reasons not specified.

The Falcons are set to play against Denver next Sunday, while the Saints will host Cleveland.
