San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is on the mend after being hospitalized with pneumonia-like symptoms.
He was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and took part in the team's practices on Thursday and Friday. However, he is listed as questionable for Sunday's match against the Dallas Cowboys.
The team's coach, Kyle Shanahan, mentioned that they have been cautious with Samuel, who is still working on regaining his endurance.
The team is also dealing with injuries to two other receivers: Jauan Jennings has a hip injury, while Brandon Aiyuk is on injured reserve due to a knee issue.
Samuel expressed concern over his health, noting that experiencing shortness of breath was a scary situation for him.
His illness started the previous Saturday and continued into Sunday, with him briefly playing in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs before his condition worsened.
Medical examinations identified fluid in his lungs, which led to his hospitalization until Tuesday afternoon.
Although Samuel took part in practices on Thursday and Friday in a limited capacity, his participation in the game against the Cowboys remains uncertain.
Other players like tight end George Kittle with a foot issue, cornerback Deommodore Lenoir who has been ill, and safety George Odum with a knee problem are also listed as questionable for the game on Sunday.
The team has ruled out kicker Jake Moody due to an ankle injury and defensive tackle Kevin Givens because of a groin issue, as well as Jennings for the upcoming game.
Coach Shanahan expressed optimism that safety Talanoa Hufanga, who is on injured reserve following wrist ligament surgery, might return later in the season, although the exact timing is still unclear.
