Derek Carr, the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, is anticipated to play in the upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers after being sidelined for three games because of an oblique injury. Although Spencer Rattler stepped in for Carr during his absence, Jake Haener will serve as his backup.
Since suffering the injury in a Week 5 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Carr has not been on the field. This marks the most prolonged period he has missed due to injury since he broke his ankle in 2017.
Following his injury, Carr reached out to former Saints quarterback Drew Brees for guidance. Brees, who experienced a similar injury, provided advice on maintaining mechanics despite the setback.
Carr is confident that he is not returning prematurely and is eager to resume practice. The Saints' offense has struggled, managing only three touchdowns over the last three games and enduring six consecutive losses.
He stated he does not consider himself a savior but will offer energy, effort, and accountability to the team. Carr committed fully to the remaining ten weeks of the season.
Cornerback Marshon Lattimore was absent from Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring problem. Safety Tyrann Mathieu missed practice because of an illness, while running back Kendre Miller and wide receiver Bub Means were also out with injuries.
