Derrick Henry's Payback: Ravens Dominate Cowboys 28-25, Highlighting Dallas' Running Back Woes

Last March, Derrick Henry entered free agency and was seen as a potential addition to the Dallas Cowboys, especially since he lives nearby during the offseason.

The Cowboys had a vacancy at running back after Tony Pollard joined the Tennessee Titans, but they did not seriously pursue Henry. He eventually signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

Against the Cowboys, Henry managed to rush for 151 yards and score two touchdowns on 25 carries, helping the Ravens secure a 28-25 win.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones acknowledged Henry's impressive performance but mentioned that the team couldn't fit his contract into their budget.

Henry secured a two-year, $16 million deal with the Ravens, with $9 million guaranteed. The Cowboys had the option to structure a contract for Henry while also extending Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

Jones compared the team's financial situation to being unable to afford a mansion while living in a different kind of house.

The Cowboys are currently using a committee approach at running back, featuring Rico Dowdle, Ezekiel Elliott, and Deuce Vaughn. However, they combined for only 43 yards on 13 carries in this game, totaling 167 yards overall this season.

Coach Mike McCarthy expressed disappointment in the number of run attempts and stressed the importance of increasing carries.

The Ravens' ground game was dominant, racking up 274 yards on 45 attempts. Lamar Jackson opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown and added 87 yards.

Micah Parsons pointed out that players need to stick to their roles instead of trying to be heroes.

The Cowboys have allowed the most rushing yards through three games since 1963 and the most rushing touchdowns in their team's history.
