Detroit Lions News & Updates

At AT&T Stadium, a distressing moment unfolded as Detroit Lions' standout player Aidan Hutchinson was taken off the field by cart at the beginning of the third quarter. This incident happened during Sunday’s game where the Lions secured a 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Hutchinson sustained an injury to his left leg while successfully sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. The injury occurred when his leg seemed to break above the ankle following a collision with the leg of his teammate Alim McNeill.

Following the incident, medical staff placed an air cast on Hutchinson’s leg before he was removed from the field. Both teams' players gathered around as medical personnel provided assistance to him.

Even with the injury, Hutchinson ended the game with three tackles, including the pivotal sack. He was promptly declared out of the game due to the lower leg injury he sustained.

Selected as the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Hutchinson has so far achieved 7.5 sacks this season. This accomplishment breaks the previous record set by William Gay in 1983, marking him as the Lions player with the most sacks through five games since the 1980s. Notably, the Lions were returning from their bye week at the time of this game.
