Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell expressed regret for not initially acknowledging Jared Goff's record-setting performance during their Monday night victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, Campbell realized Goff had set an NFL record by completing 18 of 18 passes. However, by that point, he had already given game balls to Jameson Williams and Kerby Joseph. Campbell made up for the omission on Tuesday by giving Goff a game ball.
In an interesting twist, Goff did not keep the football from his first touchdown reception, which was a 7-yard pass from Amon-Ra St. Brown. Instead, he threw it into the stands at Ford Field, a gesture that left Campbell impressed.
Goff's outstanding performance included 292 passing yards and two touchdowns, helping the Lions achieve a 3-1 record. His 95.1 QBR was the highest for a Lions quarterback since the metric was introduced in 2006, and his 16.2 yards per attempt set a new "Monday Night Football" record.
Despite the personal accolades, Goff remained grounded, expressing satisfaction with the team's win.
