In a captivating game at Minnesota, the Detroit Lions achieved a 31-29 win, marking their fourth straight victory over the Vikings.
Jake Bates clinched the victory for the Lions with a field goal made in the last 15 seconds, allowing them to share the NFC North title with the Vikings. Jahmyr Gibbs was impressive, rushing for 116 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
Jared Goff was instrumental in the win, guiding the Lions to score a touchdown and a field goal in their final two drives. He ended the game with 280 passing yards, two touchdowns, and maintained a clean record without turnovers.
The Lions' defense made a significant impact by forcing a fumble in the fourth quarter, which Ivan Pace Jr. returned for a touchdown. Sam Darnold's failed two-point conversion left the Lions leading by one point.
Despite a strong showing from Jones for Minnesota, the Vikings fell short partly due to Darnold's two missed passes to Jefferson. An illegal formation penalty further hindered their chance to attempt a game-tying field goal.
With this victory, the Lions are now level with the Vikings at the top of the NFC North, while the Packers trail by half a game and the Bears by one game. The division currently holds the highest combined winning percentage in NFL history.
Looking ahead, the Lions will face the Titans next Sunday, and the Vikings will travel to Los Angeles for a Thursday night matchup against the Rams.
