The Houston Texans have added former Pro Bowl linebacker Devin White to their roster. White was recently released by the Philadelphia Eagles, who had signed him on a one-year agreement earlier this year.
The Eagles secured White's services on a one-year, four-million-dollar contract. However, he did not play in the first four matches for the team and missed a fifth match due to personal issues.
Devin White, who is 26, spent five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His performance earned him a spot on the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2019. By 2020, he was the team's leading tackler and also contributed with sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, and pass defenses.
During the 2021 playoffs, White stood out by leading the Buccaneers in tackles, fumble recoveries, and interceptions, even returning an interception for a touchdown against Patrick Mahomes during the Super Bowl, despite missing one playoff game.
In 2021, White was honored with a Pro Bowl selection, finishing the season with 128 tackles and three and a half sacks. He continued this form into 2022, with 124 tackles and five and a half sacks.
In the previous season, White started 13 games and achieved 83 tackles and two and a half sacks. Yet, he faced injury challenges and K.J. Britt took over his starting spot. White had sought a trade prior to the season's start but ended up completing his rookie contract option with the Buccaneers.
