Quarterback C.J. Stroud from the Houston Texans took accountability for their 26-23 defeat against the Detroit Lions, saying he and the offense were at fault for their struggles in the latter half of the game.
Even though the Texans managed to intercept Lions quarterback Jared Goff five times, they became only the second team since 1933 to lose a game after intercepting five passes and having a lead of at least 15 points.
Stroud recognized the team's poor performance in the second half, noting they failed to score and allowed the Lions to stage a comeback. While he led the team to 23 points in the first half, he faced challenges in the second half with two interceptions.
Coach DeMeco Ryans voiced his frustration over the loss and the team's failure to take advantage of the turnovers. He highlighted the need for the team to play complementary football and maintain their drives.
Running back Joe Mixon shared the team's disappointment but remained hopeful, stating their determination to improve. The offensive players have admitted the necessity of addressing their issues in the second half.
Left tackle Laremy Tunsil confessed that they eased up in the second half and emphasized the importance of enhancing their performance if they aim to be a championship-caliber team.
