Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips is set to miss the rest of the 2024 season due to a partially torn ACL. The injury took place during a game against the Tennessee Titans when his teammate Jordan Poyer accidentally hit his right knee with a helmet.
Even though he was given a brace, Phillips had to exit the game in the third quarter because of knee instability. Coach Mike McDaniel remarked that Phillips' diligence makes this setback tough but highlighted that Phillips will come back even stronger.
This season, Phillips has recorded a sack and eight pressures. He also missed nine games last year due to a torn Achilles tendon, which required reconstructive surgery. Despite these challenges, Phillips is determined to push through.
With Phillips sidelined, rookies Chop Robinson and Mo Kamara are expected to have increased responsibilities. Meanwhile, veterans Emmanuel Ogbah and Quinton Bell will add to the pass rush, and Bradley Chubb remains on the physically unable to perform list following an ACL injury.
McDaniel emphasized that replacing Phillips involves a team effort rather than relying on a single player. The rookies will benefit from the experience gained during training camp, while the veterans will offer their guidance.
The Dolphins are looking to break their three-game losing streak in their upcoming match against the New England Patriots this weekend.
