Matt Eberflus, the coach of the Chicago Bears, stated he is still contemplating adjustments for the team's underperforming offense. Despite this, rookie Caleb Williams will retain his position as the starting quarterback.
Eberflus mentioned that all options are being considered apart from the quarterback role. He did not provide details of any specific changes at the moment.
Following a 19-3 defeat by the New England Patriots, Eberflus admitted he is thinking about a switch in the offensive play-caller position.
Although he had previously confirmed Shane Waldron would remain as the offensive coordinator after an earlier loss, Eberflus has not dismissed the possibility of changes following the recent loss to the Patriots.
The Bears have failed to score a touchdown in their last two games and have not scored in 23 consecutive offensive drives, marking the longest current streak in the NFL.
Williams has been sacked 18 times over the last three games, which also included his highest pressure percentages experienced in his career during the team's losing streak.
He achieved just 120 passing yards against the Patriots, marking his lowest passing stats since starting his NFL career. The team's struggle on third downs was evident, with only one successful conversion out of 14 attempts.
The backup for Williams is veteran quarterback Tyson Bagent.
Waldron joined the Bears in January 2024, after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Raiders, from where he was dismissed following a 2-7 season start.
In his previous position with the Seahawks from 2021 to 2023, Waldron played a key role in Geno Smith's career comeback in 2022.
