Jacksonville Jaguars News & Updates

Amit Patel, a former employee of the Jacksonville Jaguars, has initiated a federal lawsuit against FanDuel, accusing the sportsbook of exploiting his gambling addiction and violating responsible gaming and anti-money laundering procedures.

Patel states that FanDuel encouraged his excessive gambling habits by offering him credits and trips to sports events. He transferred around $20 million to FanDuel.

The lawsuit mentions that Brett Krause, Patel’s VIP host at FanDuel, maintained frequent communication with him despite knowing about Patel's gambling problems. Krause is alleged to have admitted breaking anti-money laundering rules and told Patel to hide their interactions.

Due to his addiction, Patel stole $22 million from the Jaguars. He has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and illegal monetary transaction, receiving a 6½-year prison sentence.

The Jaguars have additionally sued Patel for damages and reportedly, according to ESPN, have sought compensation from FanDuel.

In his lawsuit, Patel seeks $250 million in damages from FanDuel, arguing that the company has a shared responsibility for his gambling issues and should be accountable for its actions.
