ABC is expanding its coverage by broadcasting six additional ESPN Monday Night Football games. This includes the AFC East clash featuring the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets scheduled for Monday.
With these additions, ABC will host a total of 17 games this season. Fourteen of these will be simulcast with ESPN, which includes two playoff games, while three will be exclusive to ABC.
This expansion is the result of a joint decision by the NFL and The Walt Disney Company, the parent company of both ABC and ESPN, to increase the number of simulcast games.
The extra games added to the schedule include matchups like Baltimore facing Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay traveling to Kansas City, Houston against Dallas, Baltimore competing with the Los Angeles Chargers, and New Orleans playing at Green Bay.
There will be no games broadcast on ABC on the 11th of November and the 2nd of December.
In the last season, ABC had games scheduled for all 18 weeks due to an agreement with the NFL, which helped significantly boost viewership for Monday Night Football on network television.
Initially, ABC was set to have eight games simulcast with ESPN and three exclusive games this season. This change reflects Disney's strategy to ramp up its sports programming on ABC, paving the way for major events like the Super Bowl and the College Football Playoff championship game to eventually air on the network.
The upcoming match will feature an exciting quarterback showdown between Aaron Rodgers of the Jets and Josh Allen of the Bills.
