Jay Cutler, a former NFL quarterback, was arrested in Tennessee on Thursday night following a traffic incident which has resulted in him facing four charges.

The Franklin Police Department indicates that Cutler, aged 41, has been charged with driving under the influence, possessing a handgun while being intoxicated, failing to avoid a collision, and violating implied consent laws.

Officers who arrived at the scene of the minor crash in downtown Franklin noted that Cutler had a strong smell of alcohol, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. He declined to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken for a blood test.

A search of his vehicle uncovered two firearms, including a loaded pistol. After being booked at the Williamson County Jail, he was released on bond amounting to $5,000 at 9:59 p.m.

Drafted as the first-round pick for the Broncos in 2006, Cutler played in Denver until 2008 before being traded to the Bears in 2009. He became Chicago's all-time leading passer with 154 touchdowns and 23,443 yards, ending his NFL career with the Dolphins in 2017.
