New York Giants News & Updates

In the first half against the Washington Commanders, the New York Giants focused heavily on their running game, resulting in quarterback Daniel Jones having zero passing yards. This unusual situation made Jones the first known player since 1978 to throw a touchdown without accumulating passing yards in a half.

Although the running game was effective, the Giants faced difficulties in scoring and found themselves behind 21-7 at halftime. They adjusted their approach in the second half, with Jones passing for 174 yards and a touchdown, in addition to rushing for another score.

According to head coach Brian Daboll, the decision to prioritize running was part of the planned strategy, not an indication of mistrust in Jones. However, the early emphasis on the run did not lead to a win for the Giants.

The Giants now hold a record of 2-7 and have fallen to a 0-4 standing within the NFC East, as Washington achieved a season sweep against New York.

Prior to facing Washington, Jones and the Giants' offense had scored only one touchdown at home across four games, but they managed to score three touchdowns during Sunday’s game.

Even with increased passing efforts in the second half, the Giants suffered their fourth consecutive defeat and continue to search for their first home victory this season.
