Houston Texans News & Updates

Houston Texans defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. has been suspended for four games without pay due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Edwards can return on November 11th, in time for the Texans' matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11. Prior to his suspension, he had started every game for the Texans this season and played a vital role in their defensive lineup.

The Texans will manage without Edwards by welcoming back defensive lineman Denico Autry. Autry's return comes after his six-game suspension, just as the Texans gear up to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 7. He joined the Texans on a two-year, $20 million contract in March, following a standout season with the Tennessee Titans where he achieved a personal best of 11.5 sacks. Autry's suspension was announced on July 29th for a violation of the NFL's rules on performance-enhancing substances.
