New York Giants News & Updates

Isaiah Simmons made an impressive play in the game's final moments by jumping over the line to block a field goal attempt that could have tied the game, resulting in a 29-20 win for the New York Giants against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks were unhappy about the legality of the play.

Simmons, positioned on the left side of the long snapper, managed to get past right guard Laken Tomlinson and rushed towards the kicker Jason Myers. Bryce Ford-Wheaton picked up the blocked field goal and returned it for a touchdown to secure the victory.

The Giants, who had been trailing by seven points, spotted an opportunity from Seattle's game footage and devised the play based on this insight.

Simmons, despite not having a significant impact this season, gave credit to his teammates for setting him up for the incredible play.

Although there was a risk of a penalty, the Giants were confident in their plan. Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Dexter Lawrence, the defensive linemen, assisted in Simmons's jump by applying pressure on the long snapper and Tomlinson.

Seattle's coach, Mike Macdonald, acknowledged the defensive mistake, stressing the importance of closing the gap that Simmons exploited.

However, the officials confirmed the play was legal since Simmons did not take a running start or use any defenders to gain leverage. The Giants celebrated a significant victory, with Simmons stepping into the spotlight as an unexpected hero.
