Jacksonville Jaguars News & Updates

The NFL owners have given their unanimous approval for a substantial $1.4 billion renovation project at EverBank Stadium, involving a collaboration between the Jaguars and Jacksonville. The renovation work is set to commence in early 2025, with an anticipated reduction in seating capacity during the 2025-2026 period.

Under the terms of the agreement, both the Jaguars and the city will invest $625 million each, with the city additionally allocating $150 million for preparatory work before the main renovations begin. The contract includes a commitment to a 30-year lease and features a clause to prevent the team from relocating.

The revamped stadium will draw inspiration from SoFi Stadium and will feature a canopy designed to provide shade and lower temperatures. Once completed, the stadium will have a seating capacity of 63,000, with the possibility for further expansion to accommodate major events.

During the renovation, the Jaguars plan to continue playing at EverBank Stadium for the 2025-2026 seasons before relocating temporarily in 2027. The cities of Gainesville and Orlando are being evaluated as potential temporary hosts for their games.

The agreement permits the Jaguars to host up to six international home games across the next three seasons. In 2027, when all home games will be played outside EverBank Stadium, up to three games can be held internationally. From 2028 onwards, a limit of one game per year in London is established, unless otherwise required by the NFL.

This agreement effectively quashes any speculation about the Jaguars moving to a different city. Mayor Deegan has voiced appreciation to all parties involved, highlighting Jacksonville's growing stature and the integral role of the Jaguars in this progress.
