Philadelphia Eagles News & Updates

In Cincinnati, the Philadelphia Eagles secured a 37-17 victory over the Bengals, spearheaded by quarterback Jalen Hurts who showcased a stellar performance with four touchdowns, including three on the ground and one through the air.

Even though Joe Burrow is considered among the top tier of quarterbacks in the league, Hurts minimized any sense of triumph from outdueling him, remarking that such encounters are typical in the league and emphasizing his personal standards.

In the past, Burrow surpassed Hurts during the Heisman Trophy competition and their college clash, with LSU overpowering Oklahoma. This time, however, Hurts excelled, completing 16 of 20 passes for 236 yards and contributing 10 rushes for 37 yards, whereas Burrow achieved 237 yards and suffered one interception.

Hurts' advancement since Philadelphia's bye week, maintaining a clean record with no turnovers over the past three games, is credited to his commitment and passion for football.

His three rushing touchdowns in this game marked the third occurrence of such an achievement, placing him at the top among quarterbacks since 1950. He further extended his NFL record for games with multiple rushing touchdowns by a quarterback to 14.

The Eagles have increasingly leaned on their ground game, highlighted by Saquon Barkley’s contribution of 108 rushing yards, which has alleviated some of the strain on Hurts and the defensive unit.

Hurts conveyed confidence in the offensive unit's capability, expressing a belief that while they aren't fully optimized yet, they are progressively improving and integrating various elements.
