Jared Goff Shines, David Montgomery Dominates as Lions Edge Out Cardinals in Defensive Battle

Jared Goff's early performance in the game was impressive with 14 consecutive completions, but the second half turned into a defensive showdown. David Montgomery contributed 106 yards, and Goff threw two touchdown passes, leading the Lions to a 20-13 win over the Cardinals.

Detroit's defense was formidable, keeping Kyler Murray and the Cardinals from scoring in the second half, allowing just a single field goal. Aidan Hutchinson added to his season's total with a sack, bringing him to 6.5 sacks over three games.

The game featured a well-executed hook-and-ladder play that resulted in a Lions touchdown just before the halftime break.

Arizona had multiple chances to reduce Detroit's lead in the third quarter but struggled on key downs. Kerby Joseph intercepted a pass meant for Marvin Harrison Jr., and the Lions' defense stopped Murray on fourth down.

Kyler Murray ended the game with 205 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Marvin Harrison Jr. had 64 receiving yards.

The Lions started the game strong with a touchdown drive, and the Cardinals answered with a touchdown pass from Murray to Harrison. Amon-Ra St. Brown then caught a touchdown pass to put the Lions ahead, followed by the hook-and-ladder play that increased their lead further.

Despite injuries to Detroit’s Ifeatu Melifonwu, Ennis Rakestraw Jr., and Derrick Barnes, as well as to Arizona’s Kelvin Beachum, Justin Jones, and Trey McBride, both teams played with determination.

The Lions will play against the Seahawks at home next Monday, while the Cardinals are set to face the Commanders at their own stadium next Sunday.
