FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Jason Myers kicked a 31-yard field goal in overtime, leading the Seattle Seahawks to a 23-20 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday.

The game-winner was part of a perfect day for Myers, who ensured overtime with a 38-yard field goal in the final minute of regulation. Myers also scored from 44 yards in the second quarter.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith orchestrated an eight-play, 71-yard drive to the New England 13-yard line to set up the decisive score. Smith went 33 of 44 for 327 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf in the first half.

Metcalf ended the game with 10 receptions for 129 yards. The Seahawks, now 2-0, also benefited from a strong performance by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who recorded 12 catches for 117 yards.

New England, now 1-1, won the coin toss to start overtime but failed to capitalize, going three-and-out. Rhamondre Stevenson was stopped on a critical third and 1 play. Playing under first-year head coach Jerod Mayo, the Patriots received 81 rushing yards and a touchdown from Stevenson and 96 rushing yards from Antonio Gibson. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards, including a touchdown to rookie Ja’Lynn Polk.

Seattle maintained their chances late in the game after Julian Love blocked a 48-yard field goal attempt by the Patriots that would have extended their lead to six points with 3:59 left in regulation. Smith connected with Metcalf on two passes that advanced them into the red zone. However, New England’s defense held on third and 1 at the 15-yard line. Seattle committed a delay of game penalty on fourth down
