Kansas City Chiefs Look to Replace Rashee Rice Following Injury, Considering Options Like DeAndre Hopkins and Jets Receivers

Kansas City Chiefs News & Updates

As Rashee Rice may be out for an extended period, the Chiefs are looking to add another wide receiver. A couple of years ago, they brought in Kadarius Toney from the Giants and last season, they re-signed Mecole Hardman from the Jets.

Rice is scheduled to have a knee procedure on Monday, which will help determine how serious his injury is and how long he might be sidelined. There is some optimism about his return this season, but until there is more clarity on his condition, the Chiefs are considering other options.

During the 2023 offseason, the Chiefs thought about signing DeAndre Hopkins, who is currently in the final year of his contract with the Titans. The Jets might also become a source for a wide receiver if they secure Davante Adams.

Acquiring Adams seems unlikely due to salary cap issues, the Raiders' reluctance to adjust his salary, and a past incident involving Adams in a game against Kansas City.

The Chiefs have placed Rice on injured reserve, which means he will be absent for at least four games. His knee injury occurred last Sunday when Patrick Mahomes collided with him during a fumbled play against the Chargers.

Despite the setback, Rice has been an important player for the Chiefs, achieving 24 receptions, 288 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in just four games.
