Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has stated that all possibilities are being considered for the team's struggling offense, which currently ranks as the worst in the NFL after four games.
The Dolphins have only managed one touchdown, ending a 10-quarter drought, and are averaging just 11.3 points per game. Their 1-3 start is the most challenging under McDaniel, who admitted they were "not even close to good enough."
McDaniel noted a gap between preparation and execution and stressed the importance of thoroughly evaluating the team's performance.
In their game against the Titans, Miami's offense gained just 184 total yards, with 85 of those coming from their single touchdown drive. They only converted 2 of 12 third-down attempts, extending their recent struggles to 3-for-24.
The team also committed 10 penalties, bringing their total to 21 over the past two weeks.
Quarterback Tyler Huntley, filling in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa and Skylar Thompson, completed 14 of 22 passes for 96 yards. Several miscommunications with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill impacted Huntley's performance.
McDaniel mentioned that the playbook was simplified for Huntley, who still managed to make "some good things" happen.
Tagovailoa remains on injured reserve, and the Dolphins are still seeking solutions in his absence. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and fullback Alec Ingold stressed the need for better performance across the offense.
Historically, teams that start with three losses in their first four games face significant challenges. However, the 2001 New England Patriots managed to win the Super Bowl despite a similar start.
Safety Jevon Holland, who experienced a similar slump with the team in 2021, highlighted the importance of unity and focusing on fundamentals during tough times.
